GET INVOLVED
Simply put, we couldn’t do what we do without our volunteers! It takes at least one or two volunteers to assist our instructors in supporting each student. Plus, there’s all the time involved in running our day-to-day operations and staging special events. Our staff team is spectacular, but we just can’t do it all on our own.
Volunteer requirements include:
• Willingness to commit to a minimum number of volunteer service hours.
• Ski ability is preferred, but not absolutely required.
• Heartfelt respect for the special needs requirements of our CAWV students and their families.

OUR VOLUNTEER POSITIONS INCLUDE
Program Assistant
Program Assistants support CAWV instructors and students during lessons by handling equipment, assisting students, and joining in the fun. Assistants follow instructor guidance and may occasionally work independently as a “buddy” to more experienced students.
Volunteer Instructor
Volunteer Instructors are responsible for students assigned by the CAWV Team. They work closely with students to guide skill development, teach lessons, and promote independence. This role is ideal for volunteers with extensive experience and specialized training.
Jr. Volunteer
Jr. Volunteers are youth instructors in training who assist with lessons while learning instructional skills in a supportive environment.
Office / Outreach Volunteer
Behind-the-scenes support keeps CAWV running smoothly. Office and Outreach Volunteers help with event support, community outreach, administrative tasks, and many other essential activities beyond the slopes.
Board Service
Challenged Athletes of West Virginia is governed by a group of leaders who serve as our Board of Directors. If you are a member of our local community or a member of the broader community of those who want to see our adaptive sports programs flourish, we invite you to talk with us about opportunities on our Board or one of its working committees.
Make a Financial Contribution
CAWV is supported by grants, endowments, fund raising activities, and private donations. The expense of our program activities is considerable, constantly growing, and a daunting challenge that we must consistently rise to.
